Bewerley Parish council is over 100 years old and was inaugurated with just three councillors and a chairman from the Yorke family of Bewerley Hall. The current council is comprised of nine parish councillors, one district councillor and a clerk and is elected every 4 years.

The area covered by the council stretches from Glasshouses bridge in the south to Foster Beck in the north and from Greenhow in the west to the River Nidd where it borders with Pateley Bridge. The Parish has approximately 550 parishioners and is 2337 Ha.

The objective of the Parish Council is to represent the interests of its parishioners in matters such as planning applications, highways, environmental and many other local issues. The Council is also represented on several outside bodies such as Police Liaison, Britain in Bloom, Swimming Pool, Memorial Hall, Quarry Liaison and Millennium Green. Regular meetings with both Harrogate Borough Council and North Yorkshire County Council are also attended.

The Council meets on the 3rd Monday of every month and the meeting Agenda is posted in the parish notice boards one week in advance of the meeting. The Parish Council also produces a quarterly newsletter which is distributed to all households in the parish.
