Pateley Bridge and Bewerley are in an idyllic
rural setting that provides a perfect location for the floral
displays which have become a renowned attraction of the area.
towns first entered the Regional Britain in Bloom Competition
in 1976 and success came with a joint win in 1981.
This then enabled us to represent England
in the large village category European Entrente Florale in 1982,
winning against five other countries.
With progress we have reached a high position
again, though owing to an increase in population, we are now
classed in the Small Country Town Category.

The whole community is now involved with an
enthusiastic committee, and representations from the local council,
chamber of trade, local businesses, hotels, schools, churches,
institutes, clubs, Guides, Brownies, Scouts and business sponsors.
magnificent Band Stand was built in 1998 in less than a week
as a Yorkshire TV action time challenge. This involved the whole
community including the local armed forces.
This gives an added attraction to tourism and
during the summer, bands use it most Sunday afternoons.
We are very fortunate to have help with the
main flower beds courtesy of Harrogate Borough Council,
who are the team leaders. Darley have been winners of the
small village competition for six years in the last decade and
are currently being joined in Harrogate Borough by Pateley Bridge.
In Spring the B6165 approach road has a mile
long line of golden Daffodils, welcoming visitors to this compact,
happy, picturesque, country town that many celebrities have made
their home. Whatever the time of year Nidderdale always delights
visitors with its lush spectacular scenery.
