Nidderdale Business Association

This web site has been developed under the auspices of Nidderdale Business Association.

Nidderdale Business Association’s constitution says:

"That people in business and in the professions based in Nidderdale may consider, promote and do all such lawful things as may be calculated to further, improve and secure the prosperity of the members of the Association and to promote the interests of Nidderdale in general".

The Association accepts a wide ranging brief, from which it monitors all Council policy issues which may impact upon our members and has direct access to the Chief Executive and Heads of Department of Harrogate Borough Council. The construction of the new coach/car park owes much to our pressure through this process. The Chamber’s association with the Action for Market Towns organisation has also added valuable professional expertise.  Since 2005 the Association has been an active member of the Nidderdale Strategic Partnership which comprises representatives of North Yorkshire County Council, Harrogate Borough Council, local parish councils and Nidderdale Plus.

The committee has successfully completed projects to implement roadside Nidderdale boundary signs, a central Finger Post, identifying and promoting twelve local businesses (believed to be a national first) and the construction of a new display notice board. Locally, it has actively encouraged and supported the Nidderdale Festival, Museum, High School and Community College, as well as the Swimming Pool Appeal.  The Association regularly publishes a tourist leaflet for the area and in 2005 produced a comprehensive local business and community directory.

A significant project was the launch on 1st March 1999 of the definitive www.nidderdale.co.uk internet website. This imaginative scheme has allowed both business and the wider community to understand, master and exploit new and wider markets, from which our future prosperity will be assured.

Association meetings, at various locations in the Dale, are held regularly and in a relaxed atmosphere taking the form of informal, lively and friendly discussions. Our future plans include the continued campaign to increase the opening times of the Tourist Information Office, further improvement of car parking facilities, and to extend the marketing of Nidderdale to the widest possible audience.

Increasing our membership to embrace the broadest range of businesses will provide the strength on which future achievements can be built.
